“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” –Eleanor Roosevelt
As I reflect on this quote, I am reminded of how often our dreams lose their luster as we lose heart and are no longer convinced that our God-given dreams are beautiful. I have lost heart many times. Sometimes because of trying circumstances we lose heart, other times we can hear the voices of others and our own inner doubt discouraging us from pursuing our dreams. I am reminded of the verse in Proverbs 13: 12 which says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” I like to think that Mrs. Roosevelt was thinking along the same lines when she said the above quote. There is something very vital and powerful in the life journey of a person when they truly believe that their dreams matter. In fact, to continue to believe after disappointment is half the battle. One’s future is often determined by their willingness to weather the storms and victories of life, all the while staying focused on the dream. There are dreams that maybe God has given you. Ask Him about them. Let Him bolster your faith and renew the beauty of your dreams.
