“I am leading you along a way that is uniquely right for you”- Sarah Young, Jesus Calling
How many times do we compare ourselves to others? I often find myself struggling to be comfortable with the way I was made to be, struggling with identity. This quote from Sarah Young’s devotional reminds me, once again, that everyone is made distinct, in the image of God with specific attributes of His character. In a world that often tries to convince us that “we are not enough” and “to be something special we ought to be like so and so”, the daily fight to go the path that is made for your can seem daunting. This year, I have had to walk the path for me. It doesn’t look like everyone else’s. Often times, I felt like I was wasting time or that I could be doing something more important. But, when those thoughts come, they are challenged by the truth that all of me, talents, abilities, quirks, etc., were all put there for a purpose. If I refuse to be the person God made me to be and do that which excites my heart (the talent that comes easily to me) what am I doing that will really matter in the end? If what I am doing does not bring life to those around me, what future or potential am I robbing from myself and others who could benefit? Refusing to be me, to take the path hand-carved by God for me, could be dangerous. It makes you think, doesn’t it? The road less traveled is that way because so many have forsaken their hearts.
